The Interview

5:15 am: I woke up and started to get ready for my interview! I wanted to make sure I had the "Disney Look" just right so I left myself lots of time to shower and do my makeup and hair!

6:30 am: Left my room to head to the Hospital where I was meeting Rae and her dad. I was really nervous, but excited at the same time. We had no problems finding each other, made a quick stop at Tim's and then started on our way to Toronto!

7:45 am: We arrived at "The Grand" Hotel! It was very fancy. I'm lucky I had Rae there so that it was much less intimidating. We found the room and sat outside on the couches. You could see all of the CRP applicants arrive and we started to chat to people. We met Kayla, and briefly met Jen.

~8:00 am: Eric arrived and let us into the Richardson Room. We grabbed a couple of pamphlets and took a seat. Rae and I made sure we were at the front, and then started filling out the paper work. It's just basic employee applications. Mainly they want to know which roles you'd like to do when you're down there (Disney speak is "role" not "job"), and how soon they can ship you off!

9:00 am: The presentation started. It was about an hour presentation all about the Cultural Representative Program and working at Disney. It first started with trivia. Unfortunately, I didn't get to answer any questions. The questions I knew I didn't get my hand up fast enough, and then I didn't have the courage to guess at the others (although, it turns out I would have been right). In the rest of the presentation they showed you where you work, where you live, the type of "roles" available, your costumes, and more! They explained a lot of the Disney rules and expectations while on the program. A lot of it was the information that could be found on the website, just with more detail and told by two smiling Cast Member's! They then let us know when our interview would be. Rae had 10:30am, and I was 2:15pm!

10:15 am: Interviews start! I waited around for Rae and some of the other people to do their interviews first. Here's where the nerves really came out. Working at Disney is such an amazing opportunity, and so many people want this job. Seeing all the amazing people applying is nerve wracking!

12:30 pm: After a couple interviews Rae and I decided to go for lunch. We asked if people wanted to join us and Jen said yes! The three of us headed to Casey's just down the street! It was absolutely amazing! We had Tornado Potato's, nachos, and I had my traditional beef dip (but with sweet potato fries). More importantly, we had fantastic conversation. It's true what I thought... all these people are just like me! They love Disney and are so friendly. We clicked instantly and spent the entire lunch bonding and having a blast. I could definitely see myself staying friends with these girls and partying it up (both in Canada and Florida).

1:45 pm: We headed back to the hotel for our interviews. As the time came closer I became more and more nervous! It was hard to believe that the time was finally coming to have my interview after all these years of waiting! Everyone was really supportive though, and cheering me on. Jen was shaking the nerves by dancing to "Calabria remix" which she had just downloaded on her phone. Man, I love (potential) Disney people!

2:30 pm: Sue called me in to the interview. I remembered to shake her hand, smile, and be polite. I gave her all my forms and we briefly chatted about how bad passport pictures are because they won't let you smile in them. I look scary when I don't smile. She asked me about my job in the IRC, and why I liked Physics. Then why I was applying to Disney, and specifically why I wanted the roles I chose. She decided not to ask me if I could live in residence, since I've lived in residence for 4 years, but I briefly spoke about living in Keyes this summer. Then she asked if I'd done any traveling, so I spoke about Switzerland, and my potential trip to Japan. Finally, she asked me what I wanted to share with others about Canada / Ontario. I clarified if I could talk about my town (she said yes) so I went on my long talk about how wonderful Port Elgin is. I spoke about the sunsets, Pumpkinfest, and how it's so close to Tobermory and the Bruce Trail. Overall, I think the interview went well, although Sue didn't give any indication whether she liked me or not. Hmm... we'll see!

2:45 pm: Rae and I decided to wait for Sommer (another friend) and Jen to finish their interviews and then Sommer was going to give us a ride home. It's such a wonderful thing that you can meet this people and become instant friends. After the interviews the four of us went into the lobby and took some pictures. I'll make sure to put them up if people send me a copy!

4:00 pm: It was finally time to go home. In addition to our "special secret" from Jen there were 2 other signs that we were destined for Disney. On our way home we saw a car driving with a Florida license plate (seriously, there aren't many of those... it's a sign), then "Calabria remix" came on the radio! We were having a blast. I'm sure we'll be seeing each other again, and definitely chatting over Facebook and msn!

Overall, it was a wonderful day! Even the experience of the interview was worth applying. So many wonderful people... I just hope we'll all meet again at Disney!
