Traditions!

First, I should say I absolutely love the comments. Thank you so much, it definitely means a lot that people are actually reading this (though, I'd probably still write it just for my memory)!

We ended up being late for the movie yesterday, and so winded up wandering around Downtown Disney and then watching the 9:20pm show. We saw an amazing guy who was playing guitar and singing at Downtown Disney. We wandered by and he was playing "Brown Eyed Girl"... possibly one of my favourite songs. He said he would be there regularly, and I think we will be too now ;). Seriously, I think Kristen and I would be his groupies.

Wall-E was amazing. For a movie with so little dialogue it is very powerful and touching. I definitely recommend seeing it! Wall-E is so cute!

Today was Traditions, your first day as a Disney Cast Member! As you can see in the picture, Kristen and I were very excited, even though you have to be on the bus by 7:30am! First there was a presentation by the Union (which you don't have to join... but can). Then you get your name tag and start the learning. I was so excited to get my nametag, as you can see from the picture! Fortunately, there were no mistakes!

Traditions is a full day of presentations on the company's history, policies, and more! I definitely teared up a couple times when they showed videos of how Cast Members can make a difference in a Guest's experience. It's amazing for so many reasons. First, I find it amazing that one place can mean so much to people, but I know the feeling... how exciting it is to see Mickey, or a Princess, and go on your favourite rides! Next, it's still so exciting to be here, I love Florida and Disney so to get to live and work here is incredible. Finally, the best part is that for the next year, my job is to make Guests dreams come true! I have the power to make Disney magic happen! Of course there are going to be bad days, and frustrating Guests, but I hope that I never forget that I still have the ability to brighten a Guests day, or make a vacation unforgettable for a family. I'm so excited!

When you participate or answer questions in an activity at Traditions you get a "Disney Critter". I got this Tinkerbell one when Emily and I shared one of our favourite (and similar) Disney experiences. When we were little we would both dress up like Belle, put on the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack and dance, sing, and act out the entire thing. I also got a Pluto critter for reading a section of the book. It was a lot of fun!

After Traditions we got our schedules for the next week. I have F&B Basics tomorrow 8am-12:30pm, and then training 8am-4:30pm Monday and Tuesday. I start my on the job training (OTJ) on Wednesday as a seater at Le Cellier.

When we were done, we went outside and it was pouring. Definitely not weather to go to the Magic Kingdom to watch fireworks. All of us were pretty tired so we decided to skip the park and just go back to Commons. Kristen, Meaghan, and I (along with a lot of UK people) ended up having to wait for the 3rd bus back from Disney University as all the other buses were full! I didn't end up getting back until just before 7pm... almost 12 hours after I left. I decided to skip the fireworks (even though seeing Wishes would be amazing) because I think I need a full night sleep. It will be my first full sleep since I got here, which is good because I don't want to show up for work tired!

So I guess that means it's bedtime!

Hi Jenn!

Amazing Blog. I'm coming out in exactly one week so it's fantastic to read what you've been doing so I know what to expect. I wish you could have told us more about the throw in but I understand why you can't. Keep it up, mate, and I'll hopefully see you soon!

Rebecca! I definitely can't wait for you to be here. I will be at your throw-in... it's going to be awesome! Work is a ton of fun, and everyone here is so nice... you'll love it!

Tori! I can't wait to meet you! Even if I could have said more about the throw-in your "Welcome Party" will be different since you're from the UK. I'm not sure if the UK even got a party... which sucks because the UK people are really nice! Canada and the UK are pretty close because we have the same Coordinator of Training, and we're right next to each other in Epcot.
