Mom in Florida - Day 5, 6 & 7

Friday October 17th, was the 5th day of Mom's visit, and the day of our big Canadian Thanksgiving dinner! I had to work from 11am-9pm, but Mom stayed at Vistana and cooked an amazing dinner! When I got off work, I went to pick up my Norwegian roommates, Tina and Ellen, and Tracey for a big dinner! Unfortunately Ellen wasn't feeling well and couldn't come.

When we got there, Mom had made us warm apple cider. It was delicious! Tina had never had it before, so it was really nice for her. Actually, she'd never had a big Thanksgiving dinner before, or a big turkey dinner before! So this was all a new experience, learning about a Canadian tradition for her! My Mom did everything to make it special. She cooked practically every vegetable seen at Thanksgiving, and made sure to have pumpkin pie, and all the traditional foods!

Here are the pictures of the food, wine, and decorations!

Overall, it was a fantastic success... Mom even got a bottle of my favourite Food and Wine sparkling wine (the "Pink" bottle above) just for the occasion! Tina and Tracey both had a lot of fun, and it was nice to have a family dinner... plus, the leftovers will last us awhile!

Saturday October 18th, I worked from 10:30am-9pm, and then my Mom and I enjoyed our last night together with wine, popcorn, and a movie. It was a lot of fun, and I definitely knew I was going to miss her when she had to leave.

On Sunday, we packed up everything and Mom headed to the airport. Since I didn't have to work until 11:15, she left before I did. It was definitely sad to see her go, I was so spoiled while she was here! But it won't be too long until she visits again... Christmas is only a couple weeks away!

I went back to my apartment to drop off everything from Vistana (I'd accumulated quite a lot of stuff) and it really hit that my vacation was over. The apartment was kind of messy, no one was around, and the door to my bedroom was locked. I ended up piling all my stuff in the living room. When I got home, I was so tired I went to have a nice bowl of my mint chocolate chip ice cream that Mom left me, and it was gone. My roommate must have thought it was hers and finished it. Still, I'd had a pretty awesome week with my Mom... so I couldn't really complain too much. Though it was very difficult not to open her cookies and cream ice cream and eat that instead!
